In spring of 2019 North Yarmouth wildlife artist Michael Boardman was selected to be the artist in residence for Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He was flown to the coastal plain of the refuge in June to spend 2 weeks at the Canning River Bird Camp, helping the ornithologists there study all the migrating birds breeding on the tundra. Michael will share his unique experience in an extreme environment, with plenty of artwork and sketches and stories. He’ll also talk about where these arctic breeders migrate from, and how the movements of these birds connect Maine to Arctic Refuge.
