Field Trip: Hermit Island, Phippsburg

Join co-leaders John Berry and Gordon Smith as we explore this birding mecca.  We’ll be walking (up to 3 miles) in a variety of habitats, from sandy beaches, to rocky headlands, to woodland paths.

Meet at Hermit Island.  From Bath, take Route 209 (High Street) south into Phippsburg.  Continue south on Route 209 (also known as Main Road) until the Route 209/Route 216 intersection.  Continue south on Route 216 (Small Point Road) for approximately 3 miles.  Turn right onto Head Beach Road at the Hermit Island sign.  Proceed for approximately ¼ mile to the Hermit Island parking lot (on the other side of the fence).  Please do not park along Head Beach.
