Viles Arboretum Field Trip Report May 16, 2018

A group of nine birders started early in the morning at Viles at 7 am. In almost four hours of birding a total of 52 species were seen or heard, with 14 species of warblers. Among the highlites was a cooperative American Bittern, Blackburnian Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Wilson’s Warbler, Bobolinks, and House Wrens. After finishing at Viles, a smaller group went to Vaughn Woods in Hallowell and added two more species of warblers, including two Louisiana Waterthrush. (Report by John Berry.)
