Forty-two species (including the uncommon Yellow-bellied Flycatcher) were observed by 11 birders at the annual trip to Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson. Emphasis was placed on discovering breeding activity by resident birds and we were pleasantly surprised to have a front row view of a female Purple Finch building a nest in the top of a Black Spruce at Kettle Hole Bog.
