Thirty-nine species were observed by 8 birders at the annual trip to Brownfield Bog. The group was rewarded by finding several Yellow-throated Vireos (an uncommon summer resident here), one of which was singing his heart out. To those who missed this trip because of the thought of clouds of mosquitos descending on one’s bare skin: the mosquitos were around, but hardly noticed. The reason: many hundreds of dragonflies along the Bog Road apparently gobbling up every mosquito in sight. Truly amazing! (By Gordon Smith)
