We will explore two Town-owned properties, Capt. William Fitzgerald Recreation and Conservation Area/ Bay Bridge Landing Wetland Park, for breeding and migrant birds. The first property (“Fitzgerald Preserve”) is one of the few sandplain grasslands remaining in Maine. We will walk an easy, sandy path (about 2 miles total) exploring this unusual natural area for Prairie Warblers, Eastern Towhees, Field Sparrows and the rare Clay-colored Sparrow. Following, we will visit the nearby Bay Bridge Landing Wetland Park on the Androscoggin River. No restroom facilities available.

Meet at the iron gate at the end of Lindbergh Crossing Road (off Old Bath Rd.), 1.3 miles northeast of the Bath Rd./Old Bath Rd. intersection at 6:30 a.m. FMI Gordon Smith at 725-0282.
